New Injection Technologies

ZEBRA is dedicated to identifying and developing new or improved methodologies for remedial injections. Some recent developments include:

• Hornet Tool
• Multiple Injection Point Manifold
• Pressure Activated Injection Probes

The Hornet Tool is available from Wavefront, and has been very valuable at problem injection sites where the injected product travels up the rods and pools at the surface. The tool also may improve uniform distribution of the injected product in the aquifer. ZEBRA can provide this tool at your site for delivery of the product to the targeted aquifer zone, and maximize the remedial efficacy.

ZEBRA has used Multiple Injection Point Manifold (MIPM) systems for several years, and has experience with application of this technology under various aquifer conditions. Specifically, when an aquifer demonstrates optimum injection characteristics, the installation of multiple rod strings and connecting plumbing for simultaneous injections can increase total injection efficiency. The MIPM system is not universally applicable, and ZEBRA will work with you to determine if your site conditions warrant this option.

The Pressure Activated Injection Probe manufactured by Geoprobe, is an option for top-down injection designs. This tool does represent additional backpressure, and can dramatically reduce pumping efficiency. As such, it is not universally applicable, and ZEBRA will work with you to determine if your site conditions warrant this option.

The Wavefront Hornet is an injection technology that improves the performance of other remedial approaches, such as pump-and-treat systems and the placement of in-situ remedies. Primawave represents a truly effective method for the mobilization and recovery of contaminants as well as a delivery mechanism for the distribution of in situ remedies at the pore scale.

The Pressure-Activated Injection Probe allows for either top-down or bottom-up injection of remediation materials when using any Geoprobe® grout or injection machine. The probe allows materials to be injected laterally into the subsurface. Unlike conventional injection methods, this probe ensures accurate placement of the material into the intended injection interval. A key feature of this probe is that it acts as a backflow preventer, keeping injection material IN the ground and not ON the ground!
